NoteCard Confession
Hello there learning community! This week I made yet another new youtube video (listed above)! The goal of it was to do a notecard confession video! A notecard confession video has two well known purposes in the classroom. The first is to put yourself in another person's shoes and tell their story after some thorough research of course. The other way is to tell your own story. For my classroom I chose a different approach and I just used it more as an introduction about myself.
Often times at the beginning of the year teachers use the first couple days to help the students get to know them and then of course to get to know their students. As you all know I am in my blocks and one thing I have been learning is that those first couple days of the school year run the most smoothly when the students are actively engaged. So what a better way to do that then to show them my video but then put them into groups and have them make videos? So not only I as the teacher can get to know them but so can their classmates! On top of that this could be shared with parents and be a great way to build community within the class and table groups early on!
So you might be wondering as I often am when I read about cool projects, how did you do this? So first I had to write the notecards and keep each of them short and to the point. I don't want my students to zone out while I'm telling them about me! So after the notecards were done I had to practice in front of the camera to make sure you could read them. I recorded them using my camera app on my iPad and using the new screen recording function. Then once the video was made I opened it up in iMovie and added some affects to help make my cards easier to read. iMovie also made it super easy to add the background music! After that I simply uploaded it to youtube.
So this project is not hard at all and I hope you all can find a creative way to incorporate this project into your classroom and feel free to share it with me on twitter! Like I said in my video I love learning!
