The Fight to Stop Bullying - iMovie Trailer
Creating our iMovie Trailer this week has been the best project in Ed. Tech this far. We used the iMovie application for iPads and although the options for trailers are limited, the word on the street is that we will make a movie later this semester. Before I share our creative process, I should probably share who "we" is. My partner is Alyssa Klein, a Junior at Kansas State University also studying elementary education. We share the same content area or emphasis which is mathematics. Knowing this I assumed our video would be about math but she had the great idea to do an anti-bullying trailer. So after we had decided what our video was going to be about the next part and parts to follow were all a blast. But first we had to pick a theme, we personally were torn between "expedition" and "scary." We liked the music for both but decided on expedition because there was a cast and we could be featured. Being in your video was part of the requirements so that was perfect for us but there are also several other themes for a lighter topic or trailer. From there on we honestly just winged it. We got the opportunity to go out and work on our video and come back to class after time segments for help or demos on what we were going to have to do. It worked perfectly because it seemed like we could work, regroup and then finish the idea we had or move on to the next step. Overall bullying is a very serious topic in schools today and we are grateful for a fun hands-on way to raise awareness. I think this would be a great assignment to give your students with guidelines that don't smother their creative genius.
