Apple Teacher - iMovie
This week on Apple Teacher, I learned specifically about iMovie and earned my iMovie badge. I am actually very familiar with iMovie, my high school was 1-to-1 iPads and for a lot of our projects we had the option to experiment with iMovie. But it was good to actually read about it and be able to know what the test was talking about. First thing to know are the different views you can have in iMovie. There are three different ones starting with video browser, then projects browser, and finally iMovie theater. Video browser is just where you can browse all of the videos on your device, projects is where you can see all of your projects or start a new one, and the theater is where you can find your movies that you have saved there from any device. The next piece I really enjoyed reading about was how to fine-tune your movie. There are several different suggestions on how you can make it better such as: muting clips, trimming an overlay, fade out background music, fading to black, and sync your clips to the music. One thing I really enjoy about the different books on Apple Teacher is how detailed they are. If you want to know more about any of those suggestions they each have their own paragraph under each feature. The next thing that I knew the least about was about the different ways to share your video. First you have AirDrop where you just share it and you can share it with contacts or everyone and it just drops your video directly to their device. Then you can also share your video to other popular web destinations such as notes, mail, and iCloud sharing, but you can also do Facebook, Youtube, and Vimeo. I thought that was super cool and very handy. The last thing I found super interesting were the ideas and inspiration for how you can use it in your classroom and for specific subject areas. Math is my content area so I'll share what they suggested, which is "record yourself teaching a math lesson, and share with students for self-guided review." I think that's a great idea and then you can have them do their review and use the features iMovie provides like titles, sound effects, and images.
